Kui Community Urges Prime Minister To Address Land Issues


On 9 July 2020, Phnom Penh, Kui indigenous communities from Sre Preang, Busthom, and Prame villages, Prame commune, Tbeng Meanchey district, Preah Vihear conducted a press conference to deliver their statement to the Prime Minister of Cambodia to intervene and issue a directive to the relevant authorities in addressing the issue of administration boundary delineation between Chhaeb and Tbeng Meanchey districts which is affecting traditional land use and management of the three villages.

The statement calls on the Prime Minister to issue an order to the relevant authorities to take into consideration the resolution and protection of the community’s traditional land use and management within the boundary.

In the statement, the community has expressed their disappointment over Preah Vihear authorities who had demarcated approximately 3 km away into Prame commune boundary in which some pieces of land of the 3 villages having traditionally used and managed​ would be losing.
